I use Fuji cameras and shoot in Raw. Very much like the layout and power of Darktable but Fuji RAW files (RAF) are not supported. Any ideas on when Fuji will be supported or a work around to be able to use Darktable?
Fuji raw files are supported, but raw files with lossy compression are not
Have been happily using dt for about half a year now with lossless compressed raw files from an X-T5 and an X-T3. Maybe if you have a brand new camera like the X-E5 it might take some time for it make it on the list of supported cameras (camera support | darktable).
In that case you could use something like Iridient Developer and process the resulting DNGs in dt.
Could you share one raw file to test please. I edit a lot of Fuji raw files and they are great on DT.
Did you check if it’s on the list of supported cameras?
Would gladly send a RAW file but cannot see that this is possible on this chat forum.
Have X-T5 and X-H1. Darktable does not support RAW files from either camera according to the message received when attempting to load them.

Just drag and drop the raw file on the editing window.
Also you can use the @ symbol to reply to people directly. You can also highlight text in a previous message and click “quote” to quote reply.
Did you see elstoc’s message?
If this is the issue (which I suspect it is), you can change the raw compression somewhere in the camera settings. FWIW, I have a X-T4 set to lossless compression and can open the files in darktable without issues.
And if you use lossless compression you are starting with a higher quality input file.
As already said, and as can be seen on the camera support page, not all raw formats are supported. In the case of Fuji, lossy compressed raws don’t work, while lossless and uncompressed work fine.
X-H1 doesn’t even have an option for lossy compressed RAFs. I’ve got two such bodies and Darktable runs fine with compressed and uncompressed files.
Can you tell us which version of Darktable do you use and how you open your files in the app?
Checked the list last night. Fujifilm RAW is not supported. So it’s back to DXO, Luminar and Affinity/
Which version of DT are you using?
Here in the PlayRaw section are lots of examples from Fuji cameras showing good quality.
Unfortunately you didn’t reply to several suggestions here
I don’t have much to add, except first hand experience:
I’ve been using a Fujifilm camera of one kind or another with darktable for years. I upgraded to an X-T5 over the past year and it works extremely well. I’m shooing in lossless compressed raw.
Mirroring what others have said:
- X-T5 is, in fact, supported very well.
- Check your version of darktable. Perhaps your version is old? The current version of darktable is 5.2.1.
- Make sure your camera is shooting in raw, either uncompressed or lossless compression. (Do not use lossy compression.)
