My R7 has no built-in flash and I was missing a small/light flash for travel (I have a 430EX but this is already big), and found that Godox has this very clever design: the IT32Pro that costs about €100.

The page above doesn’t make it too clear but in works in TTL mode (at least with my Canon camera)
It is sold with a controller (at least where I got it)
But the real kicker is that this is really two parts: the flash head and a small radio controller (held together with magnets). To use it as a remote flash you just rip the flash head from the controller foot which remains in the camera hot shoe. You can hold the head in your hand or put it on the provided stand. So your camera flash becomes a remote flash instantaneously (and completely transparently for he camera).
I forgot to mention … the protocol from the flash trigger to the flash is universal. so you can control one godox flash meant for canon and a godox flash meant for sony from one trigger meant for fuji.
I too have a Godox flash for my Canon R7. Its a TT685II. Inexpensive and powerful enough but too bulky for my travelling. I use an Olympus T20 flash from my very first OM-1 film camera (1980’s ???) for travelling.
WARNING: With the Canon R7 external flashes do not fire with Electronic shutter selected but does fire with Electronic first curtain or mechanical shutter. I believe mechanical shutter may cause shutter shake on Canon R7 at slower speeds, but I have not confirmed myself. Probably other Canon models are the same.
