I went out thrifting this weekend and managed to nab a couple of decent deals…I hope.
Picked up a used Canon Pro 9500 MKII printer that I hope to get up and running soon so I can print larger prints, a really decent ball head tripod from a brand I’ve not heard of (upon further searching, the brand focuses solely on security and cctv cameras), and finally a GoPro.
I’ve never really wanted a GoPro, but I do want to take photos underwater…so I couldn’t say no to a setup that included two batteries, a 128gb sd card and a few mounting accessories.
I’m currently looking to see what my editing options for .gpr photos are. So far looks like Snapseed and LR Mobile are my easiest options.
Does darktable handle GoPro RAW?
I just bought a brand new Fuji X-M5, to replace my daughter’s old X-A5 with something that can auto-focus on faces. She’s actually taken quite a few nice pictures with the X-A5, especially some of me (as the designated photographer in the family, I’m not typically in the pictures). My hope is that with this upgrade, I’ll have a better chance of being in focus.
And it’s a nice toy to play with for me. It’s surprisingly nice to carry this light a camera. But it’s also entirely superfluous, considering that I have an X-T5 and Ricoh GR already.
Truth be told, I was considering returning it. But then we went to Munich on the weekend, and a waiter accidentally emptied half a glass of beer into my lap, and partly over the brand-new camera. It seems to have come away unscathed. But now it doesn’t feel fair to return it. Let’s interpret that as a sign of the universe that I should keep the camera.
So far I have been heroically resisting getting a second hand Olympus E-M5 mark ii or even iii. But my resolve may not be holding out for much longer, they are really nice, stylish cameras, with weather sealing, and are available for a few hundred euros.
I did splurge (and I am using the word advisedly, they are not cheap) on a genuine Panasonic battery just this morning, after reading a lot about batteries on this forum.
I’ve been studying all the forum posts, YouTube videos and blogs I can find on the new Nikon Z50II. With enough effort I’m confident I can convince myself that it is in fact a necessity.
