Getting an error while rendering mp4 video

Hello,

A friend of mine ran into this problem while exporting an mp4 file. She gets this error, “could not open video codec: generic error in an external library”. It’s a video captured with a smartphone, and she did some effects and all but is running into this error every time. And She has tried exporting in other options as well, such as avi and mov. She is getting the same error.

What could be the possible problem here? While on my system, I have no problem importing and rendering mp4, avi, or mov format.

Thanks and regards,
Daulat

Need more info. Is this on Windows/macOS/Linux? What codec was used?

I recommend using images or prores for media input/output in Natron.

It is on a windows system. Codec is avc1.

Btw how do I export as prores in Natron?

Edit: Figured out the ProRES part. I have recommended my friend to try the Apple prores 4444 codec. Will let you know if it is working.
