I did a sudo apt install gmic and am presented with version 2.9.4. Am I going to have to manually update?
the help doesn’t give me command descriptions and I don’t have access to lorem, I can’t live without these things
Yes, unfortunately the gmic version present in the Ubuntu and Debian official repositories is a bit old. In the description, they even still point to the sourceforge website 
We actually provide some .deb packages on the G’MIC website, so it’s quite easy to stay up-to-date, if you have one of the Ubuntu version we provide. Is that the case?
BTW, I’d love to see someone proposing an up-to-date PPA or Ubuntu!
