Hello All,
I wanted to experiment with the grain module, and I used the 1600 ASA preset.
It looks pretty mild if compared with 400 ASA film grain: you can barely see a difference with the original on printed paper…
This is my workflow: after setting the image properly in DT, I export it to Tiff and with Gimp I crop it and scale it for printing to 2043x3071 px (300 DPI A4 prints with white space around).
Am I missing something?
Thanks for reading!

It might be that the grain sizes were set when sensors were a lot smaller (in MPixels) than today.
As a digital image has no inherent “metric” size, the grain size would stay the same in terms of pixels, so get a lot smaller on e.g. an A4 print when the RAW pixel count increases.

The manual doesn’t say a lot about this module but maybe just increase the coarseness and the strength sliders until you get the effect you like. Then save it as your own preset.

I think you are right, I was thinking about the same.
Yes, will try to change the default settings, thanks!
