This is one of about half a dozen old oaks in “The Grove”, located in the old WWII-era remains of Camp Livingston near Pineville, Louisiana. The grove is surrounded by pines and ever encroaching undergrowth. The photographic angles are limited, but I like the look of the trees. This one has the most opportunities:
There’s also a lot of really strange, ugly flora in the area (as in all areas of Louisiana):
But anyway, here’s my take on the image, done in ART 1.21.3. The challenge I found was getting the trunk and limbs to come off the background without either over-doing them nor over-subduing the background. I wanted the morning sunlight to come through but not overpower. I think I got close but not quite perfect.
