Group ID counted up in increments of two

Recently, I deleted the darktable folders under ~/.config and ~/.cache to reset its database. When I import raw images with their accompanying JPG files, the group ID is counted up in increments of two rather than one. Consequently, there is no group ID 1 or 3, but 2, 4, 6, etc. instead.

I’m not entirely sure, if this happened before I deleted the folders, but I wonder, if this is intended? Obviously, resetting darktable by deleting these two folders did not help (I tried again).

The group id is the id of the image that is the group leader. Since you’re import raws and jpgs and each one of those gets an sequential image id, then 1 and 2 are grouped together, 3 and 4, etc., so the group leader image is every other one.
