Guess what, ...it's clouds again

Sitting here, reworking old pictures, I thought you might have fun on this one:

Thanks for this photo Popanz, and more black and white.

@popanz I couldn’t get anything approaching what you got with the upper clouds, so I loaded your sidecar. Wow, 37 steps (including the standard ones that you didn’t add). The cloud magic came with multiple stacked instances of Local Contrast. I never would have thought about doing that. It looks great!

@Tim
You are right, it isn’t a simple edit. Anyway I think it isn’t necessary for a pleasing result to make that many steps. Maybe have a look at this quite simple edit - not as dramatic as my first edit, but you can see that there is not much to do to get a pleasing result.
I hope this helps you a little bit:

Here’s a Retinex mapping - sees through mist and “restores” color:

edit: missed a seam (so fixed). May still not be all 100% but couldn’t let that stay. :slight_smile:

After several iterations from bad over worse to even worse I began new and came to this result … the pink spots in the highlighted cloud area bothers me less than what I had before. And I could cheat them away :innocent: … now they are white spots
