Guide to changing hair?

Hi,

I have just started to look at Darktable and learn about it and one thing that I have been wanting to try in it is to change eye colour and hair colour.

From an youtube guide I worked out how to change the colour of eyes and I can get a nice natural green look. Yet I can’t manage to get a nice natural blue look. Is there any particular guide for that or is it something that is easy to explain.

And I can’t find any sort of guide to change hair colour. Is it possible in Darktable? I tried using a parametric mask but I can’t quite work it out so I can only highlight someone’s hair. Is there any guide for this or is it something that can be easily explained.

I am slowly learning everything else on how to edit photos in Darktable.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

You can try making drawn masks around eyes or hair in the the following modules:

  • color lookup table
  • color zones (the ‘hue’ tab)

You can also use the Tone Curve in LAB unlinked channel mode. Then you can follow a video from any image editing software, since the LAB tone curve is the same everywhere.
