Imported a tiff file, fettled it in darktable and exported as jpeg. There is no xmp file with the tiffs & jpegs in the parent folder…
Had a good poke about and found it in a whole other folder several levels up and over to the right (not where I expected).
Anyone else experience similar? Offer solutions?
No biggie, just a moment of panic.
Did you by any chance rename the file within darktable, possibly missing the extension? That can lead to similar weird behaviour.

No, I try not to rename. Most of my import time goes on foldering, naming & tagging.
It does have a long name with mixed characters so maybe that…
Long name with special characters at least sounds like a possible stumble. Could you share the filename or characters used?
