* Hello * Luts 3D * Windows 7 * No Module * Have G`mic *

Hi! Thank you! I think it’s not W7 itself, but something inside the settings. I’m almost sure that when I studied the tutorials on Draktable I saw it on Windows 7 (Luts), since not everyone presses F11, but it could be just a similar shell.

Hi! Thank you for your attentiveness! You are right!

Oh, my God! Thank you. I realize that you had to take the time, at least to install the OS… I have SP1 exactly like this.
Appreciate your hard work!

Thank you again! I’ll investigate your link further, it looks like I saw something in the .txt file similar to the log when I searched for the answer myself. Should I ask the G`MIC group if it compiles with Windows 7?

Let’s do one thing at a time, please get the whole text log, and we’ll go from there.

The answer, as others have stated, is to get on an operating system that is actively supported.

This is still not the complete log.

Try this:

Open the console as administrator and then use darktable -d all >log.txt. This will save the output to a txt file in the same folder. Attach this file here in your answer.

Hi! You’re right…

Hi! The console writes in my language.
-d is not an internal or external command, executable program or batch file.

Sorry, maybe it’s darktable.exe -d all >log.txt. Basically use the command as you did before, but add the >log.txt to it and with administrator privilege.

Mabe consol its no CMD ?

CMD is correct. But you already did this? You navigated to C:\Program files\darktable\bin and then entered the command?

Thank you for waiting!
No, I just opened CMD as administrator. I opened that folder you said.
What do you need to do, now?

Do not run it as administer. Run it as your user.

Users don’t have permission to write data to C:\Program Files. So I aked to run as administrator, to keep the command a little simplier. We can do this as user, but then we need to specify something in the user’s folder like darktable.exe -d all >c:\users\*USERNAME*\desktop\log.txt.

So, either run CMD as admin, navigate to darktable\bin and run this command:

grafik

It will then create the log.txt file in the same folder. Attach this file here.

grafik

Or run CMD as normal user, navigate to darktable\bin and run the command darktable.exe -d all >c:\users\*USERNAME*\desktop\log.txt while you insert your username for *USERNAME*. This will save the log.txt directly to your desktop.

Or do none of this, since I’ve just realized that I don’t get output in the console but I get some with >log.txt, which is probably already sufficient.

log.txt (408.6 KB)

Edit: I somehow thought it would be easier to get the log right in place without needing to navigate to some hidden obscure folder. However, you can of course still stick to the FAQ linked by paperdigits, which tells you where the logs are saved by default.

I don’t use Windows or this older version of darktable. But the path in the error message looks wrong, there’s a regular slash (/) character between darktable and plugins, seems like that should be a backslash (). Maybe check the config file to see if that’s the issue?

I dont think this is something you can set in a config file. And also other components have this characteristic in their paths and they work.

We should really let OP post the requested information before we start stabbing in the dark about what is wrong.

Hi. Hey, guys! I really appreciate you guys taking the time. I had to cut off contact for a couple days. I’m gonna go over everything I’ve tried.

After reading your link I used this command.
darktable.exe -d common
And the Darktable just launched. I checked 3 paths 1 is bin folder and 2 user folders , public and my name. as below. They were either empty or missing. The hidden files I have enabled.
C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\darktable\darktable-log.txt

Hi! And thank you! That makes sense… I tried 3 commands, and the console either says there is no such path or says the command is unknown.
Your console starts with Program Files
In my case, if I run it as administrator, it opens from c\windows\system32.
In the case of just running it
c\user\myname
Maybe I’m misunderstanding something, but that’s the way it is. I tried to open the folder manually and run the command, but I got an error that the input was invalid.
