* Hello * Luts 3D * Windows 7 * No Module * Have G`mic *

Hello! I am glad to join your community, I share your ideas and appreciate your work! I feel that this is an infinitely powerful energy that can change the culture of mankind.
Windows 7 Darktable 4.2.0. This is the latest Version available on W7 - Knowledge is gained by the Selection Method. W7 is extremely necessary and convenient for me. I like Minimalism and Concentration. Supplement my knowledge - I do not have the Lut 3D module. I have studied all available information and my last resort was to ask the community. And here I am. I installed Gimp, installed G`mic, downloaded and specified the Lut 3D folder in the Darktable settings. According to the documentation 3D Lut Available since version 3.6.9 I think it was still Windows 7 / Theoretically back then.
Let Float the thread further, Will accept any help.
Thanks. Thank you. Thank you.

If you start darktable from the CLI, darktable.exe -d all it’ll tell you what options darktable was compiled with

Yours probably wasn’t compiled with gmic support. So you’ll probably need to compile darktable yourself.

And here is the standard “windows 7 is way past end of life and you should consider something that is supported by the vendor or community. Linux is nice.”

Hello, sounds like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks for the hint towards Linux. If my workflow is ready to change, I will switch to minimalism. Maybe what you’re talking about is also due to the fact that I don’t have presets on all the modules. How do you do that so that the unprepared person wins? Can you tell me how? Command line? Any ideas, willing to try! Thank you.

Sorry I don’t understand the question.

Hi! Thanks for the reply! I’m transferring via Deepl , if you need to clarify anything feel free, I will be only glad.

You said :
Start darktable from the CLI - This is the first time I’ve heard of this, Explain how to do it from scratch.

Darktable was installed earlier than G`mic but later than Gimp.

G`mic Installed in the Gimp/Plugins folder (Conditionally) Standard suggested path.

What I mean is that in all the video tutorials on Darktable. People have presets inside the modules… Like the Diffuse and Sharpness preset Lens or the Bloom preset. Well, I don’t have them in any module. Everything’s clean. I thought it might be related.

I reinstalled Darktable and it had no effect.

Thank you!

You can read about it here: faq | darktable

These are the executables gimp and gmic. To use gmic functionality in darktable, darktable must be compiled and linked against the libgmic-dev library. If this is not the case for the version you are using, you have no chance … unless you build darktable yourself. However, I doubt that you will be able to do this under Windows 7.

And please bear in mind that using such an outdated OS can represent a considerable security risk, not only for yourself and your data, but also for others. Only one example : botnets used in large-scale attacks that tear down the IT of hospitals, municipal administrations, airports…

Hi! Thank you! Do you know how to enable 3D Luts in Darktable?
If it is not in the modules ( and through search too)?

It should be, because the youtube versions use older versions of Darktable and they have this module there…

As ready written, you need to start darktable from the terminal; that will print put what options darktable was built with. You can paste that text here and then we’ll move on to the next step. This is the only answer.

Where did you get your darktable 4.2.0 from?

I installed the darktable-4.2.0-win64.exe from here: Release darktable 4.2 released · darktable-org/darktable · GitHub in wine. And the LUT 3D module is there.

Hi! Thank you! This is the first shift, found how to do it on your link… Can you tell me what to do with this information?

Hi! Thank you… I installed version 4.4.2 from the of github site / By searching it is the latest release I can see on W7 … ( Your version is earlier, it confirms that Lut must be).

Ok, I looked at 4.2.0 since you mentioned it in your original post.

But also 4.4.2 from here seems fine for me.

However, I can’t really help you with the error message in the terminal. What is your system language?

Is it worth it to translate the system to English and Enter command line again?

Ty for the Labor, I see you were trying to help me. The language of the system is Russian. What is written in the last lines of Liblut.dll and beyond, it is not Russian and English.

I think I have seen problems with software related to the language before, but it’s just a wild guess. I only have Windows 11 in a VM. Switched it to russian and the LUT 3D module is there with 4.4.2. I’m afraid I don’t know how to help you with this Windows 7 thing.

You’ve only posted part of the text, we need all of it. Copy and paste it from the terminal window.

Meanwhile I got W7 pro SP1 in a VM and can confirm: no LUT 3D module.

However, I don’t get any command line or log output at all with -d whatever. :man_shrugging: Bugfixing for an almost 5 years expired system will probably not be very easy…

I’d hazard a guess that GMIC doesn’t compile on win 7. But I dunno.

on windows it should go to a file I think, the details are in the link i posted above

Yes, I know from my former Windows days. I checked the folders mentioned in the faq (plus some more), but nowhere a log file pops out.
