Help with Digikam People Tags

Hello -

I’m new to Digikam and tried searching Google for a solution to my questions, but cannot find anything. Other posts on Reddit recommended posting here for help.

I have a new computer which can no longer run my previous facial recognition software, Picasa. Digikam imported my People Tags created by Picasa mostly correct, but I realized I have duplicate people, such as “David” and “Uncle David”. Is there an easy way to combine or merge these duplicate people? Or do I need to manually fix them?

Also, is there an easy way to see photos of two specific people? In Picasa I could pick one person and then choose to see all photos with another person. Such as photos with both “Dad” and “Mom”.

I appreciate whatever help you can provide!

There’s a people tab in Digikam, where you can manage people. IIRC, you can merge them there.

Would you be able to provide step by step instructions? I see no obvious option for merging on the People tab. I’m using the latest Mac version if that makes a difference.

In the left side bar of the People tab, drag one name on top of the other. I just checked, this works.

Thank you for explaining how to merge people tags. I was able to merge my duplicates successfully!
