Here we go again. Another new beta of Siril, another install conundrum

When last we chatted a couple of months ago, I had issues with installing Siril and incompatibilities with KStars. But I was eventually able to successfully install 1.4.0 beta 2, using https://ppa/launchpadcontent.net/lock042/siril/ubuntu/ noble main.

I’ve been away for a while and now I am informed when launching siril that 1.4.0 beta 3 has dropped, but the link provided there is for the flatpak version and sudo apt upgrade siril says there is nothing to install.

Is siril abandoning apt repository installation? Or am I missing something?
Should I uninstall it and install the flatpak version?

Please advise. Thanks.

well, I decided to uninstall the apt Siril I had and install the flatpak one. It was easy enough to do that and it seems to have succeeded.

Is flatpak installation the way Siril plans to go for the forseeable future?

I don’t think the devs particularly like flatpak.

I did not have the time to update PPA repositories and his is vacation time. As a consequence I don’t have my machine where I build the PPA

I have no opinion
Flatpak is even simpler to update for me
