the contribution is a bit late … but maybe this method is also helpful.
to restore lights i almost always use the modules “highlight reconstruction” in the mode LCH and “exposure”. then i mostly use the “global tonemapp” module to lighten the shadows. the lights can be worked out quite well with local contrast. I find this approach usually the fastest.
