So, I’ve just taken receipt of my new Fuji X100vi, and wanted to get out and Christen it in a local woodland. We finally have some sunshine, and it was ALMOST the perfect conditions to get out there.
My only regret with Darktable, is that I went so many years without knowing how good it is, and how I could have been working with this level of speed and granular control.
Mate, it’s just one of the hardest locations to shoot. And I’m also a black and white shooter. I’m getting into colour quickly with DT, but mostly because, ironically, I’m finding processing in black and white a little trickier right now.
There’s still a few things I’m not 100% on, but you can’t deny that the control you have over processing is more or less unmatched.
I’m primarily a black and white photographer myself and think its a great boon to forest photography. It helps focus more on texture and form which i find is what separates a good forest photo from a great one.
