Before you open a file to edit, you do need to install the software in your OS.

I looks from the screen capture that you are running ChromeOS. The install process for chrome depends on the chromebook you have (eg. Linux support). I’ve never installed it on ChromeOS. I cant help you anymore.

Like g-man says if you are using chromeos you need to do a install of linux on the chromebook.

Then you can install GIMP through there.

If you already have the program installed follow this link. Look at the bottom picture if you want to edit a picture you already have. The rest of the page will show you how to open a blank canvas

Just updated my link,with *. Didn’t think you might be trying to open RAWS?

*Ifyou want to open a RAW in Gimp you will need to download either RawTherapee or Darktable.
Browse to the picture you want from Gimp and the RAW program will open the picture and when you close that program the picture will open in Gimp.
