Well, I did a save sidecar, but no idea where darktable puts them. Not near the image.
You must have sidecars turned off?? otherwise should be with the source image…
The double dots seem to be in the original.

P.S. Don’t study my color adjustments looking for intelligence.

I was surprised how much I had to push saturation into this image to bring out the colors.
The open camera raw files are a weird DNG and seem to be very desaturated… the link I posted above works through that in an older thread… they have weird matrix info and wb info and they are only 10bit even for phones that have better sensors…
No, it’s set on: Create XMP files > after edit.
I start to get it now: I didn’t import the image to dt. I did a “open with… dt”. The XMP was saved in the download folder, I looked only where I saved the jpg. Issue solved.

I actually prefer the result in the OP, which has the right colour and brightness levels. Is that the OOC JPG? A raw developed version of that, with unclipped colour and better colour detail, would be marvellous.
I now realise that I missed posting the XMP file. Here is my devp process.

Do you happen to have a DNG generated by the stock camera app? Can be anything, although preferably under a similar illuminant.
Even better, a ColorChecker shot taken with Open Camera for the purposes of sanity checking the color profile of the DNG.
Thought I would take a second attempt. Closer, but not there yet.

With RT 5.10-460_lacam16n_
Editing only with the “Color Appearance Cam16” module.
From neutral I only activate the automatic exposure and leave the almighty “Capture Sharpening” module in the Raw tab activated.
