Hi All,
I try to rearrange the module in my favourites.
But the orders of module only keeped in one photo.
When I switch to next photo, the module will go back to the old order.
If I switch back to previous photo, I can see the orders I rearranged.
For example, I rearranged “exposure” to the first order.
But when I switch to the next photo, the “exposure” was go back to the old position.
Question: do you understand what it means to “change the order” of the modules? It is not a simple, cosmetic change in the interface, it actually changes the order of the modules in the pixelpipe and can drastically affect the results (to the level of making the results completely unpredictable).
If the answer is no: please read about the pixelpipe order and the changes in darktable 3.0 (section “Other improvements”) allowing for changes in it. Short version: you should not rearrange the module order unless you know what you’re doing. For example, in your first image “exposure” is a scene-referred module (it asumes the color space is linear) but it is applied at the end, in a non-linear color space. It means all the math in the code will be wrong, and it will actually not be working as an exposure compensation.
If the answer is yes, darktable 3.0 only allow changes in the module order in a picture per picture basis, and the order is not even copied when copying styles. But it looks like darktable 3.0.1 (or higher?) will introduce the option to have a global module order than can be saved (the caveats about knowing what you’re doing will still apply).
Oh~ I alway think the UI is UI and the Process is Process their are independent.
Look like I need to understand more about the pixelpipe order.
Thanks for your reply.
So, I really suggest you to read the article we wrote for darktable 3.0 release. It explain this and so more things about this major release : darktable 3.0 | darktable
