I got my first nebula result today that i am really satisfied with for the first time.
Even though i got som banding i love what Siril did to my photo of Orion.
I tried to use the script but i did not see any changes so…
Hi! Nice picture! I don’t know where these bands come from, do they appear in the master flat maybe? Have you applied some background gradient removal to get there? If so, do they show before that?
Thank you, the very first one i am satisfied with.
I think it is just what you’re saying there, i don’t have more than 2 seconds between this lights becuase of the short exposuretime 1,3". I did a stacking tonight with just 86 lightframes and there was no banding at all. I will set the timer to wait 5-10 seconds the next time.
That looks like Fixed pattern walking noise, and banding.
Walking noise is removed with varied aquisition technique. Most notably Dithering. Banding can be for a number of reasons, but if it is from a Canon Camera, there is a remove banding function in the menu you can try, the other issue I have with with banding and strange canon only artifacts are mostly mitigated by Not using Darks. Use only Flats and Bias. If you haven’t tried it, also the Background removal tool is helpful.
Would be good to post as much information as possible. Lights, Darks, Flats, camera etc etc.
I do have a script that I modified that works amazing…
Thank you so much for this, i’ve now tried this but i still have the banding when Siril is done.
So now i’m on the last test for this set of photos on Orion. One person told me to use just raw files and not exported tif files from Lightroom. So now i am about to start Siril and try this last step to see if that is the problem. Otherwise the person who told med to have more time between the shots (now i have just 2 seconds) would help me to get rid of the banding.
You may want to try stacking without darks… Then look at your data… Is the banding better or worse…
Banding is mostly Thermal noise or as some call it Dark Current, it should be eliminated with Dithering, Flats and Bias and possibly other adjustments to your aquitision methods.
