How can I move this plate (title, star rating, color flags,…) out of the image or remove it completely, best with some hotkey toggle it.
Can you help?
Thank you
Hi and welcome! See Thumbnail Overlays in darktable 4.0 user manual - top panel
HI, thanks, but is it the same? This is full image view not a thumbnail.
yes it is, just try it
In fact, every image shown in lighttable, whatever its size it’s a “thumbnail”. I admit we may choose some better words, but…
I did and I see you can select different way of displaying “overlay” based on its size. Also in full view. But you can not change its position. It is always covering the image.
Why we would like to have this overlay with name, stars and color tags, when we have it at the bottom of the screen under image, but we have not a name of the image there?
I fear you are misunderstanding how dt interface works… the stars and colorlabels on screen bottom is to change the values. it doesn’t show the actual value of the image. It’s mainly used to apply values to multiple images at once…
I seem a bit confused with this post because I don’t suffer the issue. In Lighttable my image information is located below the image and not on top. In the Darkroom view I have set what information I want shown and it is below the image. Windows OS in my case.
I have to agree with the OP. This block displaying should be something the user should be able to turn off and/or request it in the lower right instead of upper left.
For clarity, his request is when you press f (full view).
OP, I think you should enter a FR in github.
Thank you all for expressed opinions and views. as @g-man mentioned I am talking about full view (press f in lightable). It would be great if the bottom part under image not only gave you option to change the star rating and color flags, as @AlicVB noted, but also showed you the current state.
The information about the image, formatted by the properties as showed by priort should be also possible to place in such a way that it is not obscuring the image. Currently I am using for bigger image size (so not for thumbnail but full screen; you can define the formatting in properties for different sizes), as a “no overlay” and show tool tip is ON. This ends up as floating popup under the mouse pointer. This way I can move it out of image.
I’m not sure to understand correctly what you want (not clear) but if you just want to display under the image infos that are on the “upper left” plate, it’s possible in full view. Just select “permanent extended overlays”.
@Nilvus , wonderful That is it!
I assume I can adjust color of the text in some way. Do you have a tip how?
One small thing thought, in this view I can see starts rating under image and I can also modify it by mouse click. Color tags are however on right side done by very small color dot and without mouse modification possibility. (Shortcut keys works for both).
It used to be possible to have it hidden when moving the mouse pointer in the half lower part of the image. Looks like this is broken…
Nearly all colors could be adjusted with CSS.
This had always been like that, on that overlays or the other, on that view or others too. To change color labels, except shortcut, you could display bottom bar to have color labels icons to change selected images.
I have found this
@define-color thumbnail_font_color @grey_100;
but now when i select thumbnail the grey_100 text is not very visible on lightened background.
It seems interesting that some things are shared between different sizes of thumbnails (the definition of css colors, properties text and some are specific for a size, like thumbnail overlay…
