How to undo an action/return RAW image to original?

Newbie here running DT 3.0.0rc2 on Windows 10. I have been testing DT and have run into a “how to undo an action” problem. For example, I’ve been using the same RAW image to run various tests of the modules. I save the finished test with a different name when exporting. When going to the next test and loading the RAW image, it loads with the previous adjustments. I’d like it to load “fresh,” without any adjustments??? Like it should have no History, but it does???

Also, how do I undo something I just did? For example, made an adjustment in Tonal Curve that I don’t like and just don’t want anything from Tonal Curve, and would like to undo it? Thanks.

To unto what you just did press CTRL-Z, to reset history just click on the first entry in the image’s history in darkroom on the left side of the screen.
If you want to get rid of the old entries just click on ‘compress history stack’

You can also discard all history from the light table view, by pressing discard in the History module

Hey guys, thanks for the quick replies, but I’m still confused.
What is STRG?
Are you saying that clicking on Original (0), first entry in history, undoes all the entries (actions) after it?
I do understand that “compress” will eliminate the first of duplicate entries into History.
If I am correct in that you are referring to the History module on the left when in Lightroom, I fail to see a “discard” button?

History module is on the right in light table view

Sorry, I mean CTRL (STRG is german)

Getting there…
Ctl-z, go it to undo.
Discard history on right hand History module in lighttable, got it.

However, when I do discard history and then bring the history undone image back into darktable, there still is a history. But I have the feeling that this history represents actions that are aromatically by some default. Here is what’s showing in its History when image is again (after discarding history) brought into darktable: Original, raw blk/wht point, wht bal, highlight reconstr…orientation. If I am correct: Should I just leave these basic adjustments? Or, if I wanted to, how do I prevent them from defaulting?

Yes, these are automatically applied. With the exception of highlight reconstruction, those modules are needed to make a viewable image. I think you can disable highlight reconstruction in the 3.0rc.

So you’ll always see those modules since they are required to make your raw image viewable.

Thanks. At least I got something right…shows some progress.

@flycaster Thanks for asking this question! I never knew about using the Crtl-z for undoing things. I always used the history stack or just turning off a module to get a look back, but the Crtl-Z actually will undo the smallest things like each individual scroll of the mouse wheel. Very useful thing to know, indeed! Thanks again and Happy Holidays!
