Do I need to make a request to be allowed to edit my own posts again? If so how do I do that?
You are not allowed to edit your posts if your post is older than 24 hours, unless you get Member role by being more active, where this goes up to 30 days

I can not edit this post and it is 9hrs old now.
BTW. I could not edit it right after creation, either.
To combat spam, you must achieve a few member levels before you can edit. You can level up by participating. Please read your post before you hit “post.”
I’ve made many posts, and I received the ‘Editor badge’, but I can not edit. What does that badge mean?
Your role is Basic. When that changes to Member, you’ll be able to edit. The “Editor” badge is some confusing gamificarion the forum software does. It’s not related to being an editor, unfortunately.

Besides Basic/Member/Regular, think of badges like achievements. They’re basically useless
