I keep getting an error whenever I try to render.

Whenever I try to render a video, I always get a “Write1 error: Could not open video codec: Generic error in an external library”

Has anyone else encountered this?

Linux or Windows ?
What kind of file are you trying to render as an output ?
File sequence, .mov, .mp4 ?

I had the same issue. until i came across this issue: Generic error in an external library · Issue #387 · NatronGitHub/Natron · GitHub
the hint was the image size (project format), as soon as you change it to HD_720 or HD then it works.
it seems like natron can’t write with non-standard video sizes.
