I sometimes think about this. How would that look like?
This post is obviously derived from this and I think the main reason for having a common foundation would obviously be money management.
It’s cool that developers have their patreons and librepays but it really isn’t enough. And thankfully they aren’t in it for the money otherwise there wouldn’t be any foss software.
That said, aren’t we just leaving money on the table by not being present on proprietary software stores like Krita is?
What would be other potential income sources if there was a foundation?
Would there be other benefits like shared infrastructure like gnome or ASWF provides:
