Image Colors Changing on it's own

I’ve been formatting .pdf images, converting them to .pcx images for several years now however all of a sudden when I export the image to a disc the colors are different when they are saved and subsequently uploaded on another device. i.e… Black background, green and red lines are displayed as black background, magenta and lime green lines.

What’s causing this? These are the steps I take:

  1. I open the .pdf image in layers set at (width 4304 pixels, height 6600 pixels and resolution set at 800.000 pixels)
  2. I then use Filters > Enhanced > Despeckle with Median set at “adaptive”, radius set at 1, black level set at -1, and white level set at 248
  3. Next I select Image > Mode > Indexed with generate optimum palette set at 208, Remove unused/duplicates colors from color map and Dithering set with Floyd-Steinberg (reduced color bleeding) selected.
  4. Next I crop the image to the area I want to be seen
  5. Then I scale the image down to 850 on the width on the Image Size input and leave whatever value is automatically adjusted on the height.
  6. Finally, I save the image on a floppy disc by exporting it to the assigned drive.
  7. When I upload the image, the colors are adjusted and look nothing like the original image. Can someone think of what I may be doing wrong? I’ve been using this same process for several years now and for some reason its not working anymore.

Hey, welcome to the forum! You’ll need to tell us at least what processing software you’re talking about, the version of it, your OS, and probably what you’re using to convert to pcx, pdf, and what PDF viewer your using. Any details about your color manage situation would probably also be useful.

It’s Gimp (discussed with OP), moved to the corresponding category.
