Nine out of ten times I use the scale transform tool, it works as I would expect and sizes the entire image down - including any part of the image that stretches beyond the size of the canvas. However, every now and then it auto-crops the image to the size of the canvas.
I’m not sure what causes it, but my “fix” has always been to just create a new project. Just wondering if there’s a setting somewhere that would stop that from happening?
I am unsure how many layers you are working with. When I just tested the scale tool to reduce the size of an image I had open it reduced the image layer as expected but kept the canvas as the original size. Maybe a screen shot of what has gone wrong might help people to understand your problem.
The default behavior of the Scale tool is to scale a layer, not the whole image… so it’s hard to tell what is you problem without seeing the tool options (especially the Clipping one).
