Do not see how to import the Pictures folder (Win 10 Pro); file names show as a list but nothing points to an import
Hi & welcome,
You can select the recurisve import option and then import the Photos directory.
Thank youâI still only get a list of file names; the âexecuteâ tab at the bottom left does not respond.

What version are you running? Can you provide a screenshot? There is no âexecuteâ button in the import dialog.
@paperdigits Er⌠Didnât darktable in one iteration have a script execute tab?
@MMJM Hi & welcome!
Have fun!

What version of darktable is this (3.4.1.1, the latest stable, or 3.5.something, the development version)? Iâm asking because there have been changes (though both work). As @paperdigits has asked: please provide a screenshot.
This is what 3.4.1.1 looks for me on Windows:
Your top panel is collapsed (see the triangle). Press Ctrl+Shift+T to cycle through its possible states:
However, this has nothing to do with importing; please take a screenshot of the import dialog.
BTW, have you read âLighttable panelsâ in the darktable usermanual and darktable 3.4 user manual - import?
I appreciate your helpâI really do. But having read the manual and fought darktable for long enough, Iâm uninstalling now and moving on to a friendlier product.

Well, good luck. Though, since you never sent us a screenshot of the import dialog you have a problem with, and in your problem description you referenced GUI element which, to the best of my knowledge, does not exist (âthe âexecuteâ tab at the bottom left does not respondâ), maybe you could give it another go.
Have you tried youtube tutorials, e.g. those by @Bruce_Williams ?
Are you trying to import from the file system or directly from the camera?
sent the screenshot hours ago; execute tab is clearly visible
sorry for the trouble

Thatâs the LUA scripts installer, NOT the import module. I also sent a screenshot where I circled the required buttons in red. See Import Problem Darktable - #6 by kofa
@MMJM Iâm sorry, that came out harsher than intended. Since you say you have invested quite a bit of time in (have fought with) darktable, I think adding 19 more minutes to watch Bruceâs intro video (linked above) would not add too much more, and it would help you get started.
There is no CANCEL/OPEN choice at the bottom right using either Firefox or Chrome
mjm
Iâm sorry, I donât understand; Iâd really like to help you, but Iâm in the dark. What Cancel/Open choice are you looking for? And why using Chrome or Firefox?
Have you been able to open the import dialogue by clicking on the buttons circled in red on my screenshot (Import Problem Darktable - #6 by kofa)? That window is supposed to have Open and Cancel buttons â is that the one you mean when you write âThere is no CANCEL/OPEN choice at the bottom rightâ? If yes, can you send a screenshot showing the window?
Have you checked Bruceâs video? Does darktable behave differently for you than seen in the video? If yes, could you please create a screenshot, or, even better, record your screen for a few seconds, so we can see where you click? If you use Windows 10, it seems to come with a built-in tool, see https://www.laptopmag.com/articles/how-to-video-screen-capture-windows-10.
Reading your screenshot, to import one image or a whole folder, just look at the top left corner of your darktable window, below the logo and darktable you have the panel named Import. Below that Import title, you have 2 buttons, Image (left) and Folder(right). Iâm just reading your screenshot.
To import one image, click on the button âimageâ
To import a folder of images, click on the button âFolderâ.
This can be very confusingI know, but Iâm just reading your screenshot for now.
Once you click on the Folder icon, you get the screen shot provided by @kofa , displaying a file requester, where you can navigate your harddrive. doublie click to enter a folder with the image you want to import and click at the bottom right of the file requester window the button âokâ.
Darktable interface is based contrary to most applications on esstentially buttons, not menu, no contextual menu. There are some, though, but to hide less important functions, like presets.
Hope this helps.
