inconsistent UI for going forward / backwards in images (lighttable full screen vs. darkroom)

darktable 5
the difference in navigating forward / backwards between lighttable full screen mode and the darkroom is maddening. I do initial culling / rating in lighttable. Then I move to darkroom for editing. I was trying to whip through a photo set and the differences in how you move to the previous / next photo started to hit a raw nerve. Why?

  • lighttable full screen: left arrow / right arrow
backspace / spacebar have no effect

  • darkroom: backspace / spacebar
    left/right arrow have no effect

If you zoom in then the arrow key will pan in darkroom view and that is logical I guess so then you would need other keys to advance and go back… I think they are used elsewhere as well.

I guess you could just remap them to be the same if you never use that…

In lighttable also up and down arrows work (if you have more than 1 row of images). So left and right arrows are logical.
