Apolitical post. And best to keep it that way here, imv. Just thought this was a well put together short video illustrating a working photojournalist and his output.
Moderators please remove if too divisive.

Interesting.
Brings home the continued power of the photographic image, also.
Yes, but I am happy that this is not my kind of photography. Not willing to be shot while taking my images. But iconic photographs.
Yep, me too!
Should be ok in Devon
Yep…
But seriously, thanks for posting. I know the subject matter can be divisive, but the photography is definitely worth reflecting on. Those are the kind of images that, for better or worse, will go into the history books.
I guess it’s relatively rare that you get the entire action filmed on a tableau like that. (I’m thinking now you’re in Dorset, not Devon? Forget)
I was thinking that.
Good effort! I’m actually in Somerset but less than a mile from both Devon and Dorset…
Being a photojournalist must be very stressful because you have to be constantly ready, as an interesting event can happen anywhere, anytime.
It is interesting how apparently no one uses an EVF. I am guessing that almost all cameras on the scene have a high-resolution OLED EVF… but it goes unused. Of course looking at the display gives you better situational awareness, which is handy when there are a lot of hyperalert people around with big guns.
I think I saw him using the viewfinder at one point but it’s true, in my limited experience, that photojournalists are used to shooting fairly blindly over crowds or into passing vehicles and such. Must’ve been a nightmare in film days
Not sure what the guy in the middle is photographing…

After seeing that iconic pic the post is about, I went looking into the photogs X page and saw this one that caught my attention as well. Particularly due to the strong shadows/saturated look, instantly reminded me of WW2 kodachrome color pictures. Do recommend checking it out.
Actually, I guess that vehicle is moving so makes sense
Interesting video. See also a piece about the photographer and the photos in today’s Guardian: ‘The job is all about anticipation’: behind the lens of the defining photo of the Trump rally shooting | Donald Trump Pennsylvania rally shooting | The Guardian
Those photos may change history.
Thanks, interesting. Great image. I believe any post-production is a big no-no in the more elite photojournalist world, which is also interesting to consider. I’m sure they have to pay more attention to their stuff in camera than the average hobbyist like me.
I forgot about this part… So the constrasty look sort of makes sense due to the high contrast to protect Macron’s wife dress from over-exposure. No shadows lifted in PP
That probably contributes quite a lot to the slightly classic look, thinking about it…
