Is this a Ghost?

As I am still improving my processing knowledge I would be interested to see how others would tackle this one.

@lbolm Thanks for sharing! Good title.

Is it a person with a sharp nose? A bird? Both? Or…?

@Claes What are your thoughts?

Yes, @afre,
your thoughts are absolutely in the right direction. That photo shows one of our Nordic ancestors, probably scared stiff because he had spotted the camera. His dryads, being a few hundred years younger, had time to hide in the background.

Inspired by Claes’s writeup, I had another go at it.

And then, when all hope was lost, Gandalf arrived and turned the troll to stone.

I like this one very much. It gives the scene a very mystic touch.
@Claes, which software did you use?

Danke vielmals, @lbolm!

I used two pieces of software: darktable (dev version) and The Gimp/g’mic combination.

Apart from my standard medicine (local contrast and equalizer), Darktable’s color balance module produced the color balance (!!! what else???), and I used Gimp/g’mic for cropping and framing.
