Issue with G'MIC extract foreground (interactive)

I have gimp 3.04 on fedora 42. G’mic version 3.5.4pre. When Trying to use the G’MIC extract foreground (interactive) I get the following:

*** Error in ./fx_extract_foreground/*foreach/*substitute/x_segment/ *** Command ‘x_segment’: No display available.

Not sure if its relevant but I have laptop display plus an external HDMI connected display. Intel integrated graphics. The error comes up when I click ‘apply’, which on the video I watched, is supposed to bring up an interactive screen where you can indicate what is inside and outside the foreground.

No replies ?
No answer just a maybe, Interactive extract foreground work fine with my kubuntu 24.04 Gimp 3.0.4 Appimage gmic 3.6 pre#

…but Fedora 42 being Fedora, is it using Wayland rather than X11 as the display server.

Yes. I am running the Gnome on Wayland session. I think XWayland session is still available. Will try that when I get a chance later.

Actually that option appears to be gone.
