Issue with opacity of drawn masks DT5.1

I know this issue has been discussed in 2022, but I am surprised that this behaviour is still existing in DT5.1. When I draw a shape and change opacity the new value becomes sticky from session to session rather than resetting to a default of 100%. So I see from a 2022 post that to correct this default setting I need to start a new shape but before drawing it set the opacity to 100% and then it becomes the new default.

This feels clumsy way of working to me. What do others feel and does DT 5.0 act in this way or is it something that reappeared in DT 5.1?

I thought this happened when you change opacity before drawing?? I can’t check right now but that is also the way you fix and reset it…

I thought if you drew a circle and set that to 50% next circle will be 100 or the current default. But if you set it to 50% then drew a shape…they are all at 50 until you correct it…

Yes, the idea is that if you want to place multiple shapes you only need to set the opacity once. Set the opacity before placing the shape and it sticks. Set the opacity after placing the shape and it does not.

Both behaviours are useful, so pick which one suits your workflow.

Thanks for the two explainations that explain the behaviour. However, I wonder if it should be carried between different sessions of DT. I can certainly learn to adapt to this designed behaviour. I now realise I set a brush to 15% for some dodging and burning and that has caused the issue which I hadn’t seen for a long time.

This forum can be so helpful. Thanks again for the responses which have sorted my issue.
