Greetings, I’ve recently bought a second-hand gx8. While the body looks perfect, the shutter count is less than 2000. The raw files cannot be properly displayed in darktable. The thumbnail looks like pink and purple noise. Are there any settings I missed? I suspect it is not the issue of the camera, as I can open the raw files with the picture editor of Windows. Appreciate your help!!!
What version of darktable are you using?
5.2.1
Any problems with other raw files (like those from our PlayRaw category)?
And also can you share a problematic raw file?
I got other MFT cameras, and I never encounter this issue before
any chance of uploading straight to the forum as I have problems with access permission on the link.
I updated the settings in Google Drive, please check again

The file opens fine for me in Darktable 5.2.1 (it shows a vase).
It opened fine in DT 5.3 windows 11. I suggest you let people know your OS and version of DT being used.
Some kind of GPU problem? But darktable shouldn’t use the GPU for thumbnails…?
OP: now we need to see a log file to avoid having a bunch of post with folks trying to guess.
Start cmd and start darktable via darktable -d common and try to develop one of the raw. Close dt and post a txt of the output. Check the dark table FAQ website for more details.
Hello, I updated the txt file to the same drive link above. It shows "JSON type error: [json.exception.type_error.302] type must be boolean, but is null, exception id: 302 ". I searched for solutions online, but I have not yet found a solution. Any videos or posts that I can refer to? Thank you so much.
I recall some years ago there was a weird situation where there was one model of lumix camera that had what appeared to be 2 versions of sensor … such that the CFA was not the same and it messed up the images…
This is from your raw file…
I wonder if it matches the camera settings in the DT config file…
I don’t have access to DT but I think its in Camera.xml or something…you could check to see…if so you can edit it or maybe use an alias…
I’m sorry, but what is CFA? Could you provide the full spelling? The height and width shown in darktable are 3904x5200, which is slightly different from what you screencap. I did have another Panasonic MFT camera (g9 pro II), which produces 4344x5784 raw files. Is this what you mean? Thank you.
Its the color filter array for the sensor often its R G G B but that sensor is a bit different I think…I’m not an expert but for some of these cameras the black point had a nunace and there was this array thing. I will try to find the old post…
@priort As established earlier, the “problematic” raws work just fine for others, so it might not make sense to send the OP off on that particular tangent…
The txt file does not seem to be with -d common flag.
Do you have lua scripts in your system?
I’m uploading your file here so others can access it without login into Google.
darktable-log (1).txt (68.3 KB)
I took multiple shots in the same museum, and half of them encountered this “pinky” thumbnail issue. Some of them turn normal when I enter the darkroom, but some of them remain “pinky noisy” even in the darkroom.
Ya sorry but it seems exactly like what happened here and so I am just wondering if he has some error in his configuration that might also produce the pink…
