I hiked these mountains! Nice picture!
Would love to dive into this inviting frame!
Great capture of an impressive and somewhat imposing place. When I visited some years ago I found it hard to photograph. The light is not “on your side” and the whole mountain range is difficult to frame because it is so massive and oddly formed.
The stories of the failed attempts at climbing the north face are fascinating and gruesome at the same time.
I think you did a great job with your edit. I came to a similar result with lots of fiddeling with the colours.
I think your version has perfect complimentary colors. Very nice! ![]()
Not better, but here I rotated colors just a bit more:
Just loaded your original XMP and…Wait am I seeing that right?
Sigmoid for basic contrast, AgX for colour grading (which you nailed, I have to agree with @Doug-Phoenix) and then Filmic for some more contrast?
Oh, my, how silly of me. ![]()
(note to self, start from scratch…)
Somehow, it doesn’t look half bad anyway. ![]()
Resubmission:
Here is my try. This is using a partially complete Kodak Ektar 100 DFS preset for AgX plus a bunch of other editing on top.
If it works it works :-). The result speaks for itself.
Gave me a chuckle though.
Yep. Maybe that was a weird choice. Still figuring it out
Well, as you probably know, using only one tone mapper is best practice. Otherwise your editing process might prove to be inconsistent, a bit like “a dog chasing its tail.” Even if the tail gets caught once, it’s not easy to do it again. ![]()
So don’t do like I did. ![]()
Also I am only just looking at this now on my phone but there seems to be evidence of the three rounds of compression when I zoom in on my phone…will have to look closer tomorrow…
