Krakow Parkrun photography

I’m gonna be posting pictures here from different Parkrun events, mostly from Krakow, Poland, and the towns around there. Get ready for the same old shots and boring topics

Let’s kick things off with an autumn Parkrun around the Błonia Park in Krakow:

Błonia Park is a huge meadow right next to the Old Town, and the path around it is exactly 3.5 kilometers long.

Do you run and, if so, do you carry a camera? I do a parkrun here in Edinburgh, as well as other runs, but only have my phone with me. Have often wondered about taking a small camera but not sure how realistic it would be.

I do run. But then I don’t take pictures

Thanks!

Let’s jump a few kilometers ahead now to another Parkrun location in Krakow, this time the place is called Młynówka Królewska (The Royal Millstream).

Młynówka Królewska is the name of a now non-existent, artificially created stream that supplied water to mills in Krakow. Today, it is an area of a thin, very long linear park that runs almost from the city limits to the Old Town.

These poor souls are practically running on ice. Fortunately, no one broke their legs.

Now we go back to Błonia. One day I wanted to show movement in a photo, so I set a longer exposure time than I usually do. I like the motion blur on the runners’ shoes, but I don’t like the overall loss of sharpness. But still, the tree on the right side of the picture plays the main role for me

Nostalgia! Let’s go back to those warm days of last summer. We’re once again at “Młynówka Królewska,” this time by a very charming little bridge, which unfortunately was recently dismantled and replaced with a new structure. The new bridge tries to mimic the original design, but sadly, it’s far less spectacular.

So we won’t be taking a picture like that again:
