While I typically don’t need >20GB of RAM, the system seems to be taking a big advantage of the available space for caching:
So I guess a speed increase for the system…?
Unused memory is wasted memory 
More memory means more power consumption and heat. The upside is that there is reserve for stability when the system is being pushed to its limits.
On the contrary, I have one laptop with 4 GB and it is snappy for its uses. Instant on. My other one is 8 GB.
