Large photo store in Madrid?

< Madrid >
I’m beginning to fear that I may have to visit a photo-store upon arrival in Madrid on Monday.
Does anybody know about a store that may have a good selection of photo bags?

If by Monday you mean October 12th, it’s a national holiday. That means everything is closed.
On the other hand, finding physical stores with lots of products to see and touch is difficult, since people are increasingly buying online and store stock is ridiculously low.

If you want a physical store specializing in photography, starting Tuesday, I would look at these:

  1. Fotocasión
  2. Casanova Foto (Madrid)

Another option is to check the El Corte Inglés website, order it, and pick it up in store on Tuesday. (I once went to see them in person at one of their stores, and I think they only had one or two of the 80 they advertise).

Thanks a lot for your response and the advice.
Both shops are within fairly easy reach, since we are staying close to Atocha station.

Yes, I have at some point in planning registered that the 12th is a holiday. However, we land Monday evening and my possible shopping is therefore not before Tuesday.

Thanks again!

Or order to an Amazon locker and pick up anytime.

No, thank you, I’m not very fond anymore of feeding Jeff Bezos or any other of the multi-billionaires that aim for making us their digital serfs. Then I’d rather do without.

I was hoping that a city as big as Madrid could possibly beat the offerings of Oslo that is less that a fifth the size of Madrid. But I have lately come to realize that we are quite lucky to have three sizable photo stores in the city.

You could conceivably order to a pickup location from any other large retailer. They actually like when you do that, lower shipping cost. But it would not be there by Tuesday.

If you can narrow it down to a particular system, I would check their dealer locator. Eg OM System dealers usually have pretty decent stock, usually at least 90% of the product range, and I saw 4 official dealers in Madrid, you could check them out. I have also seen Sony dealers with extensive stocks all over Europe. These are smaller stores not on the high street.

Thanks, Tamas, that is of course the idea I ought to have come up with myself in the first instance …

(As an OMS user I checked your link and it comes up with the two stores that ChiMo listed, and two others regrettably outside my natural ways around Madrid. Checking OMS dealers ought anyhowto be a good idea in general for finding larger stores, as it is a minor brand that in my experience is not found in every photo store.)
