Hi, I’m back on Pixls.us again since last time I got a lot of valuable feedback. This summer I got back into photography again and finally picked up a tripod. This time I’ve been trying to improve my skills by studying some photography and color theory and how to translate those concepts to the Modules in Darktable.
I’ve found myself struggling with the following photo and would welcome any feedback. In particular, I struggle with retaining/emphasizing the natural scattered light effect without making the rest of the sky uninteresting. Another struggle is the exposure/luminance between the hazy valley and the somewhat busy foreground getting separated by the dark silhouetted trees in the middle ground. I’d also be interested in seeing how others would better manage the temperature and warmth in the foreground colors.
I’d appreciate any feedback, tips or Darktable XMP’s I could study

I agree. Anything I try, even subtle adjustments, make it feel overworked. What would you say is the main issue with this shot? In person, the lighting was much more intense and the foreground more present but the photo kind of lost its natural atmosphere.
I took some inspiration from your starting point and added some blue and orange with CB-RGB.
DorS foreground instance is just the lens deblur - medium preset.
