Learning recommendations for Photoshop people *without* trying to make GIMP into Photoshop

I apologize if this has been hashed to death; I can’t imagine it hasn’t but I’m not finding anything.

Everything I can find about migrating from Photoshop to GIMP is about how to make GIMP more like Photoshop. NOT what I’m looking for. One of the reasons for switching is that I don’t like the Photoshop interface to begin with! I’m interested in learning to use GIMP the way it was envisioned (although plugins are cool too), not turning it into something else. And there is great documentation and tutorials (including on this site). But none of them are along the lines of “here’s how you would do this common PS task in GIMP.” Sure, most of the basic things are easy to figure out, but some of the more complicated things that you can sometimes do in Photoshop with a button click, require jumping through hoops in GIMP. I don’t mind the jumping, it’s just not always easy to figure out how.

Anyway, all that to say I just wonder if anyone knows of such a resource, just because it would be helpful (to a lot of people, I think), not because I can’t master GIMP without it.

Perhaps you can start by telling us something you do in PS but can’t figure out in gimp. Since the “workflow” in both is highly personal, you’re likely to get a ton of different answers.
