Hi Martin,
since you ask for critique I would suggest likening around the eye to bring the viewers attention to the face more. Don’t over do though.
Thanks for the suggestion, Terry.
I did add a 1.5EV feathered mask.
Also the tight square crop is another enhancement, but now I find myself distracted by the branch on which the bird is perched. It was maybe premature to use the showcase category. If you’re interested, I could load this one also as a play_raw.
No way, its a nice photo!
I think it’s a nicely sharp and well exposed shot, it’s just a shame that the head is at the top and looking directly out of the image. It tends to kill any ‘eye motion’ through the image. Certainly worth taking, but not necessarily one for the portfolio.
You have brighten the eye nicely.
I like the version of the top post. I like the way the lines of the branches go along with the line of the bird’s stance. It is really eye catching.
Thanks … I did ask for critique … and although disappointed to hear yours (“not … one for the portfolio”) I must also acknowledge it as fair and well-reasoned.
Nice detail in the plumage. I feel like I need to stretch my arms and legs.
Don’t be too disappointed. Show me a photographer who has a portfolio that’s more than about 1% of their total shots taken and I’ll show you someone who fibs!
