Lighttable - cannot remove folder from view

I temporarily place my raw files into a dedicated working folder then file them away by date (along with their sidecar files) after processing in darktable.

I recently returned to edit some images from last year, and imported them directly from their storage folder.

I cannot now remove that folder from Lighttable’s import, add to library view.

If I right click it, a pop-up appears saying “you cannot delete the selected place”.

I have tried closing darktable, deleting library.db and all of the backup library files, then restarting darktable after a reboot, but the problem continues.

How can I fully reset the library?

Select all images, then hit “remove”-button in the Selected Images module.

Thanks Hans

I may have misunderstood you, but I highlighted all of the files then hit the add to library button.

I then highlighted the imported files in my regular lighttable view, and clicked the remove button, which made them disappear.

Upon returning to import, add to library, the errant folder is still there.

This picture may help explain my query…

You cannot remove the currently selected folder. First, select your Darktable RAW Files folder (or home, or pictures).

Sorry, I thought you meant something else. This I don’t know. I just tried without problems, so unless it’s what Kofa says beneath here, I don’t know. Sorry for the noise.

Thank you István - that worked!

I had successfully removed other imported folders by right clicking, but of course they were not selected at the time.

deleting backups of debases isn’t a good idea if something isn’t working properly - you just ensure, you‘ll need start from scratch if you mess up stuff with your recent one …

Thanks Martin, I appreciate your input.

Because I image my system drive every morning, I am more able than most to reverse such decisions.

I remain bemused as to why the rule exists, because deleting a place does not delete anything important.

I personally found the error message “you cannot delete the selected place” somewhat confusing, even though it is arguably correct.

Had it said "you cannot delete a selected place” then I would have probably worked out what the problem was.
