Lily (focus stack)

Tried to do some focus stacking today with a lily in the yard.

4 images developed in Darktable. Stacked with enfuse. Touched up and framed with G’MIC and GIMP.

I am fairly pleased with the result but should have done some more shots as I focused in.

The color is very nice, as is the in focus flower/out of focus leaves.

How did you sharpen this image? I’d be curious to see how different sharpening methods looked on this image.

Thanks.

The only sharpening i did was in Darktable on the initial images and it wasn’t much. I did do some local contrast to get the details to pop a bit. I think the focus stacking with enfuse made the petals look so sharp next to the leaves, but they were pretty sharp out of camera.

A couple of months ago I bought a new camera and as you do, I took loads of pictures of anything and tried different processing methods (mainly using darktable)
On flowers, I found using the highpass filter,
sharpness - 50%
contrast - 10%
blend - uniformly
blend mode - overlay
gave very pleasing results,
worth trying

I’ve been using g’mic’s richardson-lucy or octave sharpening. I usually try several different times and use the one that tickles my fancy.
