The Lily is intense red and over saturated, managing the color and keeping it bright at the same time was the challenging part. This is what I could do. What would you do? Part of the challenge was my camera; it is two decades old

I desaturated/softened everything since you mentioned you thought it was oversaturated but downplayed a lot of the background, so even though the flower is so desaturated, it still stands out.

Because of the lack of detail in the flower, it reminded me of a watercolor painting, so G’mic in Gimp:
I love the detail you were able to coax out of that…you’re much more patient than I.

That’s one way to deal with the background.
Without having seen the flower I feel I am flying blind and just had a go a putting more color into the image and downplaying the background.

Extracted and created simple seamless texture.
And then used Mathmap to create the perspective (with some color enhancements).
