I have an Epson EcoTank 2856. I don’t expect perfection from it, but I get some decently tolerable results… except in certain circumstances (and I don’t get the damn thing grinding away for 5 minutes and using all the ink up printing nothing- like my Canon did)
Now to the circumstances.
All went well - I appreciate the intuitive page layout that’s available in the Print module - until I discovered that no other application would print. I could print away with DT, but printing an urgent .pdf in Okular just wouldn’t happen. Luckily I have a version of windows in a virtualBox and I could print that way. I do not know why DT was hogging the printer.
Then DT stopped printing - merely spewing out an empty sheet of paper. After 2 days of casting about I noticed an message “cannot find a file for none” this after I’d had fiddled with the “style” dropdown in the “print settings” section of the module.
So I discovered how to make one - basically opening an image in darkroom, doing nothing to it, and saving it as a style. After applying this fake style, DT began printing again !
I don’t know if this was the cause of the printer-hogging behaviour, but it seems to have stopped.
Surely, if someone selects “none” in a dropdown menu, it should mean “so don’t look for one” !
The other thing which I don’t think id DT related is that if I use coated paper there is a terrible magenta cast - it seems to be a Epson thing…
