Log tone mapping and printing

I’ve seen in a tutorial on Youtube (Carafife, in french) that Log tone mapping is useful when you plan to print the photos since the dynamic range of photographic paper is by far smaller than what you see on screen.

Generally for printing, I use a standard curve, exposure compensation (usually at least + 0,30, even + 0,60), tonal equalizer and a rise of global contrast (+15 or + 20) in order to have a clear and contrasty image when printed.

To evaluate correctly the effect of the settings, I’ve set a mode on my Eizo screen with a low contrast which matches that of photographic paper and I use the softproofing function with the ICC profile of the paper, provided by the company which prints the books.

Does somebody use Log tone mapping to develop raw files in order to print the photos ?
Which settings do you use ?
