Lone Torrey Pine at Sunset.

Lone Torrey Pine at Sunset. by Isaac Ullah, on Flickr

Four shot panorama stitched in Hugin. Final edits in Darktable (mostly to make the gravestones pop).

Shot with an Olympus E-M1 mkii and the 12-40mm f2.8 Pro lens at 12mm, f9, and ISO100. I used a SunwayFoto Nodal slide on a tripod to help align the images.

I like this! The tree silhouette is striking and you’ve managed to keep some nice detail in the sky. Then my eye wanders around the grave stones, I like the hint of light on the tops of each of them.

@Isaac The way the gravestones are lit is kind of surreal. Do you know the context of this cemetery?

Thanks @afre! This is at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery out on Point Loma here in San Diego. I know this cemetery very well, as my grandparents are buried there. Right under this very tree, in fact. It’s a very beautiful location, facing out over the Pacific…

Thanks @paperdigits! I used several drawn masks in order to separate the sky from the foreground and treat them separately. Mainly just used the tone curves for each area…
