I’m looking for a simple, small wrist strap for my Olympus PEN.
I use this camera for more casual stuff, so I typically have it in the bag, take it out to quickly take a photo and directly put it back in the bag. This means I’d like to be able to get my in and out relatively quickly, so I’d prefer one that is fixed and doesn’t tighten itself.
It can stay on the camera permanently, so no quick release needed, instead I’d rather have something relatively small.
The camera with lens is a bit <500g, so something that is rated for 500-1000g would be enough (I don’t plan any new lenses for this camera anytime soon).
Basically, what I’m looking for is something like these simple cords that come with compact cameras but preferably high-quality enough that it comes with a max. weight rating.
I expected it to be rather easy to find something but everything I found so far is either too large or comes from Leica and thus costs much more than what I’m willing to pay .
I have one of these on my Fujifilm X-H1. It’s a heavy camera and I don’t ever walk around with it hanging off my wrist, it’s there in case I accidentally let go of the camera, and it’s perfectly adequate for that (dropping an X-H1 on your foot will hurt).
The link is to a UK camera store but I have also seen the same thing for sale of Jeff B’s online general store.
Thanks, this is exactly the kind of strap I was looking for! I’ll wait a little longer, if there are more suggestions, but this is the best on my list so far.
I’ve been using the Peak Design Leash for years. So far, there’s been no wear and tear on the mounts or the strap. They also have shorter versions for the wrist. Not cheap, but I think it’s worth the price.
I do have a Peak Design wrist strap already and really like it. I just found that using one for two cameras doesn’t work well (I too often forget it at home when it is still attached to the other camera) and for the PEN I want something more simple, that doesn’t tighten itself.
They are available here as well. It looks a bit too bulky for what I have in mind but would have been my second choice.
That looks pretty convenient. But indeed, I did a very brief search and didn’t find a store selling it.
I ordered that one now, so now I’m impatiently waiting for it to arrive :D. Hopefully it is as sturdy as the price suggests.
