I have a question about using srgb luts in Darktable.
I tried the HaldCLUT film luts and i like them but I know they are conceived with srgb color space.
I usually export in linear Rec2020Rgb or AdobeRGB from Darktable.
Will those luts restrict my color space even if I use them early in the pipeline?
Will I be better using AdobeRGB luts (assuming that they exist)?
What the difference in quality from using the .cube luts vs the .png in HaldCLUT?
If your pipeline runs in Rec 2020, the input will be probably clipped to sRGB for the lookup. The output of the LUT will be limited to the sRGB gamut, too, converted to Rec 2020 (or whatever your pipeline space is).
Subsequent modules, for example via a saturation boost, may result colours that are outside sRGB.
